I absolutely love Christmas. I always have and I think I always will. I can never help a loud squeal in my flat followed by furious dancing to The Waitresses' Christmas Wrapping when Christmas is on the horizon. (Did you know The Spice Girls have done a version? I only found out yesterday and my, it's pitiful!)
Amidst furiously finishing my work at the lovely day job, I've been frantically tying up loose ends in my folk life, too. I've had the pleasure of interviewing Gavin Davenport for English Dance and Song and I've subsequently been invited to draft a press release for his forthcoming album, The Bone Orchard. And I'm not just saying this because it happens to be a Haystack Music project, but wowee - what an album. Gavin's got this incredible, hard-to-avoid voice, and the instrumental work on it is hair-raisingly eerie. There's definite Chris Wood comparisons to be made, for sure, but with added cinematography. You know when you're so excited about something that the words come tumbling out before you can measure and evaluate their sense...? Well, that's happening right.now.
I've also been working on a pitch for a very exciting project, a little out of the ordinary. But it's all top secret at present so I'll update you once we know more.
In the mean time, have a wonderful Christmas and I'll see you on the other side!
