About the event

Join us for the Sheffield launch of Out of Human Sight, the debut novel from SHU PhD student, Sophie Parkes-Nield, and her publishers, Northodox Press.

Sophie Parkes-Nield, writing as Sophie Parkes, has degrees from the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, and is currently studying for a PhD in creative writing and folklore at Sheffield Hallam University.

She won a Northern Writers' Award in 2017; has published a biography of musician, Eliza Carthy; and co-wrote the autobiography of endurance athlete, Dave Heeley.

Northodox Press is a publisher that seeks writers and voices that capture the authenticity of Northern England, themes seldom found elsewhere, and in such a way that the characters and locations are not merely details, but affect the writing and are necessary to driving the plot. Northodox aims to give a platform to under-represented corners of northern life because the North is such a vast melting pot of varying backgrounds and world views.
